F3S in Coolidge Georgia, November 6-8, 2020.
We all had a tremendous time at the IMAC/F3S event in Coolidge GA over the weekend of November 6-8, 2020. Primo Rivera, (IMAC's SE Regional Director) teamed up with Wayne Matthews to combine the IMAC Regional Championships with FAI's F3S class for an event which was a "first" for both disciplines. The venue, at SW GA Xtreme R/C Club (Coolidge GA), had a 1500' grass runway which provided more than ample space to set up two flight lines.
The event started on Friday with a good crosswind, which lasted the entire weekend. The 150 degree "box" was incorporated and fully set-up by Matt Balazs which the jet pilots adhered to. For F3S, we had 8 jet pilots showing up and the competition was intense. Judges were drawn from the IMAC pilots and both Dan Baker & Wayne Matthews went through the relevant rules differences between the two disciplines at the pilots meeting. The Flying Club provided delicious lunches each day and a tremendously sumptuous Saturday night dinner! We thank them for their generosity and graciousness throughout the entire event.
In the final analysis, Craig Baker topped the field in first place, flying a FUTURA. Jim Baker was in second place flying a Mephisto and Wayne Matthews squeezed third place flying a Leonardo. We hope to have more F3S events in 2021 (depending on COVID) and hope to see some of you there. THANKS to Tony Jacobs for the photos!
