2022 F3S JET NATS- Johnson County Airport, Tennessee
2022 NATS Report, by: Wayne Matthews
COVID was still a factor in the attendance of the 2022 Jet Nationals which was held in Tennessee, on August 25-28, 2022. The Johnson County Airport is nestled in the TN mountains with an outstanding view of greenery
A similar amount of pilots had registered prior to the event, (22) to attend as was experienced last year. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and a variety of reasons, we only had 10 showing up to compete in 5 classes. We did have one pilot coming all the way from Jamaica to fly with us (Deryck Taylor). Archie Stafford was the Event Director and since the temperature sensor gave out on my turbine the day of practice, I helped out wherever I was needed for the event.
The full 4 days of competition was intense and the pilots stayed focused throughout. There was an on-site caterer who supplied breakfast and lunch, so there was no need to leave the area for meals. The beautiful trophies were supplied by John Bradley of Athens Trophy Shop in Athens Georgia.
We all had a great time there and we look forward to what the 2022 contest season will bring.
